Es erschien auf ihrem letzten Studioalbum <i><a href="Let_It_Be_(Album)" title="Let It Be (Album)">Let It Be</a></i>. Geschrieben wurde das Lied von <a href="George_Harrison" title="George Harrison">George Harrison</a>.

<p>George Harrison äußert sich zu dem Song folgendermaßen: “<i>For You Blue</i> is a simple twelve-bar song following all the normal twelve-bar principles except it’s happy-go-lucky!”<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> („Es ist ein einfacher Zwölftakt-Song, der allen üblichen Zwölftakt-Prinzipien folgt, außer daß er ganz unbekümmert klingt.“)<sup id="cite_ref-Turner_S._183_2-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Turner_S._183-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Ursprünglich lautete der Titel laut Harrisons Manuskript <i>For You Blues</i>;<sup id="cite_ref-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> das „s“ ist aber aus irgendeinem Grund verschwunden.<sup id="cite_ref-4" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-4"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>4<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Der Arbeitstitel während der Aufnahme am 25. <p>Der Text des Liedes richtet sich an Harrisons damalige Ehefrau <a href="Pattie_Boyd" title="Pattie Boyd">Pattie</a>;<sup id="cite_ref-11" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-11"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>11<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> hierin erklärt er den Grund seiner Liebe: “because you’re sweet and lovely” („weil du süß und lieblich/liebenswert bist“) und den Anfangszeitpunkt: “I’ve loved you from the moment I saw you” („ich liebte dich von dem Moment, als ich dich sah“). Eine wesentliche Aussage wird in dem Vers “I love you more than ever, girl, I do” („ich liebe dich mehr denn je, Mädchen, wirklich“) gesehen: “George and Pattie had been married three full years, and been together almost five.
